I highly recommend this book for reading of all ages. I picked up this story expecting a simple children’s fantasy book, but was pleasantly surprised to find much more. While this plot is sometimes predictable, there is enough suspicion (who was behind the King’s ambush?) and intrigue (what does the castle know, and does it have the power to help?) to keep every reader turning the pages. This mysterious fantasy is not only fun, but wrought with emotion as the children cope with the destruction of their parents, home and selves. Tuesdays at the Castle A Mighty Girl Princess Celie loves living in Castle Glower, and she especially loves Tuesdays, the day that a new room, turret, or wing magically appears No one can guess what the castle will do next, and Celie is the only one who ever takes the time to map the new additions. Jessica Day George does a fabulous job of developing her characters, human and not. This is a fast-paced, well-written story that will appeal to readers of all ages. As the plot thickens, the children face dangers, both serious and humorous, that threaten not only themselves but also the life of the castle. You are entering a realm where a castle can choose its monarch, children can reign and robes can rip themselves to shreds! Not quite alive, but certainly sentient, the castle is a primary character in this fantastic story, where the king and queen are ambushed on the road home and presumed dead.
